Dear Reina fans, I am really sorry that you will be losing your girl in the next 24 hours. She has consistently been my least favorite member ever since I became a fan of the group, but I understand how much it sucks to lose your oshi. Beyond that, however, I think this past year or so has been a wonderful time for Reina and her fans. Even I have come to like her a little bit, and seeing her learn to open up and befriend the others in the group was really touching. I appreciate her support of Sayumi, and her mentoring/putting up with the younger girls. While her voice is not my cup of tea, I can recognize that her actual singing is good and that she supported the group, vocally. Her ability to do everything in a confident, Reina-like manner is really amazing- I don’t think there’s ever been a Musume with as strong sense of self before. So, she will be moving on from her career in Morning Musume, one she can be very proud of, and will begin to pout her heart and soul into her new band. Good luck to her, and to all of you fans of hers, as well.

I must see this. Two of my favorite girls, singing one of my favorite songs. Does it matter that they are also two of the worst singers in the group, and will likely not hit half of the notes between them? I think not.

I have been waiting for this.

But in all seriousness, I have been so looking forward to this performance. Out of all the solos specifically written for Sayu, as well as the songs she’s covered, I think this one best suits her. It’s super cutesy and narcissistic, but also a little bit flirty and poison-tongued; and above all, it’s self-aware.

(By the way, can you imagine how excited must Sayu have been to have two cute fluffy pink backdancers to worship her? Oh wait, you don’t have to, she gushed about it nonstop on her blog for about a week.)

I’m really proud of Sayumi’s improvement over the last few years. Yes, her dancing is still kind of lackluster, and she still only hits about half of the notes in a given song, but now you can tell she’s working hard to at least express different moods with her voice. Before, it was pretty much all one voice, no matter what kind of song she was singing. But now she really get into the mood of the song, whether or not she can get into the right key signature. And her expressions are enough to give a fangirl heart palpitations, though that’s not so new.

(Murr, the one with the pigtails is Murota Mizuki, the girl I want for 12th gen/new egg group. She’s a cute ball of energy and funniness and talent.)

A Japanese wota just started posting information and stories on the Sayu thread of H!O (where I lurk in the hopes of finding translations). It’s pretty cute, because they seem to think we foreign fans don’t know much-they’re posting things like “Here’s her radio show! It’s in Japanese, though! Recently she was selected to promote ___ product!” Like, dude, relax, we got this.

The general attitude of the Japanese fans toward the foreign ones does seem to be that we have very limited knowledge. It’s like they don’t realize that we too know how to use the internet… Or that a decent amount of us can speak Japanese, and are willing to translate for the others…

…like I’ll be buying this photobook.

Even the 6th generation doesn’t think of Mikitty as a member of the 6th generation. Hell, Miki probably doesn’t even think of herself as part of the 6th generation. I’m amused.
